New Niro EV Specials

With more EV’s entering the automobile market, people are asking questions. At Palmen Kia Of Kenosha we’re here to help. Here are the answers to some of the more frequently asked questions:

What is an EV?

EV stands for ‘electric vehicle’ and it propels itself using 100% electricity as opposed to an internal combustion engine (I.C.E.). EV’s have a battery pack comprised of many cells that send power to an electric motor whereas an internal combustion engine runs on gasoline or diesel fuel.

Do I need to plug in an EV?

Yes. Every EV needs to be charged. The time it takes to recharge an EV depends on the type of charger you have installed. Whether it’s a level 1 charger, or a fast charger, time could range from 30 minutes to many hours.

Are EV’s good for the environment?

EV’s have no tailpipe emissions. There are emissions caused when charging, however research shows that that EV’s have lower levels of greenhouse gases than a gasoline- or diesel-powered vehicle. Even factoring in the plug-in time; EV’s on average produce far less emissions over the course of a traditional vehicle’s life cycle.

Is there regularly scheduled maintenance needed with Ev’s?

EV’s avoid the cost of a conventional gasoline or diesel vehicle. Services such as tune-ups, oil changes, and spark plugs are now replaced with maintenance specific for EV’s, such as HEPA cabin air filters, tire rotations, brake fluid services, and routine battery inspections. For more information contact the dealer or refer to the owner’s manual.

Are there any incentives to buying an EV?

EV’s may be eligible for a tax credit up to $7,500. Once an automaker sells over 200,000 qualified EV’s, the tax credit no longer qualifies. Customers are encouraged to act fast in order to receive the tax credit. If you have any questions please see the dealer or contact your tax consultant.

Now is an exciting time to enter an emerging market. EV’s are safe, reliable, and in some instances, more cost effective than a traditional gasoline powered vehicle. There are currently a few EV’s in the automotive market, with many more coming in the next few years. At Palmen Kia Of Kenosha, we are here to answer all of you questions in this new segment. Having been in business for over 80 years, Palmen Kia Of Kenosha has learned to quickly adapt to industry changes. Our staff is trained and fully-prepared to provide that peace-of-mind experience that you have come to expect from an automotive dealer.
