With more EV’s entering the automobile market, people are asking questions. At Palmen Kia we’re here to help! Here are the answers to some of the more frequently asked questions:
EV stands for ‘electric vehicle’ and it propels itself using 100% electricity as opposed to an internal combustion engine (I.C.E.). EV’s have a battery pack comprised of many cells that send power to an electric motor, whereas an internal combustion engine runs on gasoline or diesel fuel.
Yes. Every EV needs to be charged. The time it takes to recharge an EV depends on the type of charger you have installed. Whether it’s a level 1 charger, or a fast charger, time could range from 30 minutes to several hours.
EV’s have no tailpipe emissions. There are emissions caused when charging, however research shows that that EV’s have lower levels of greenhouse gases than gasoline- or diesel-powered vehicles. Even factoring in the plug-in time, EV’s produce far less emissions over the course of a traditional vehicle’s life cycle.
EV’s avoid the cost of conventional gasoline and diesel vehicles. Services such as tune-ups, oil changes, and spark plugs are now replaced with maintenance specific for items such as HEPA cabin air filters, tire rotations, brake fluid services, and routine battery inspections. Palmen Kia has factory trained technicians who have extensive knowledge in working with EV’s and are here to service your vehicle.
