Now for its second year, in 2020, Kia Motors America has begun to accept applications for the brand’s The Great Unknowns Scholarship Program. This scholarship program is used to award high school students that plan to achieve a college education in the fields of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math). What Is The Great Unknowns Scholarship Program?
First introduced in 2019 as part of the Kia Motors America “Give It Everything” initiative, The Great Unknowns Scholarship Program aims to discover and reward young American students that exemplify the brand’s spirit through hard work and ambition for education and excellence.
Who Can Apply for The Great Unknowns Scholarship Program?
Those wishing to apply must be U.S. students (at least 16 years of age) that are planning to pursue a college undergraduate degree in a STEAM area.
SCIENCE: Biology, Chemistry, Pre-Medicine, Physics, Applied Sciences, Material Sciences
TECHNOLOGY: Aeronautics, Automotive Sciences, Computer Sciences, Mechanical Sciences, Technical/Vocational Majors,
ENGINEERING: All engineering fields, including Applied, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical
ARTS: Design, Graphics, Architecture, Fashion, Fine Arts, Studio Arts, Motion Pictures/Television, Entertainment Arts
MATH: Math, Applied Math, Statistics
Who Will Win The Great Unknowns Scholarship Program?
Recipients of the scholarship are judged on a variety of factors. Those include, but are not limited to:
Excellence in Academic Performance
Demonstrating How to Make a Positive Impact in Local Communities.
Up to 16 students can be chosen for The Great Unknowns Scholarship Program per year.
What are the Awards of The Great Unknowns Scholarship Program?
Recipients will receive a $5,000 scholarship. This scholarship can also be renewed for up to 3 years during a student’s undergraduate study if they remain in their chosen STEAM area of study and retain a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or above.
When Are Applications Due for The Great Unknowns Scholarship Program?
The deadline for applications is set at 3:00 PM on April 30th, 2020.
Recipients will be chosen and the selected students will be notified in June 2020.
