Kia Niro Release

If’ you’ve been following the auto shows for a while now, you’ve probably heard something about the Kia Niro concept vehicle that’s been making the rounds since its debut in Frankfurt last December. Now that it’s made its U.S. debut at the Chicago Auto Show, we want to tell you a little more about the car and give you a closer look!

What’s great about the Niro, and one of the reasons we really hope it becomes a reality and soon, is that it’s one of those crossovers that really deftly makes the leap from an urban/commute-friendly car to something you can take on a vacation or extended adventure. Oh, and did we mention it’s a hybrid? So you’ll be looking at superior fuel economy and an advanced four-wheel drive system.

We just love that all-one-piece “clamshell” front seating arrangement – it looks super cool without compromising on comfort and ergonomics. And it just has the unique Kia feel to it that unites it to the rest of the lineup. The image below shows you some of the cool features in the concept that we really hope make it to production, like a tablet-like console-mounted screen that connects to Bluetooth and lets you see and record from the cameras mounted around and inside the Niro.

As for when you might get to see the Kia Niro release as a production vehicle, it’s hard to say, but the following video sure hints at the very real possibility of that happening. It’s a video that was intended for the European audience and posted to the Kia Worldwide Youtube account, but we thought it was a nice glimpse into to some of the ideas and inspiration that went into the Niro’s design process.
