Kia Niro Concept Vehicle
Sometimes a concept vehicle comes along that really makes a scene. Okay, maybe that’s usually what happens with concept vehicles. But either way, we have to say that we were pretty intrigued by the new Kia Niro concept vehicle – not just for its looks, but for what it could mean to the Kia lineup as well. Rumors seem to indicate that this vehicle could be a little more than a concept that comes and goes at the drop of a hat.
First, let’s look at the design of the Kia Niro concept vehicle. It’s very smooth on the outside and appears to have a Soul-like frame. But the post on the side seems to show that it is half crossover and half performance sedan. And of course, how could we not mention the doors. The doors come up like wings on the Niro – and we concede that this is probably one of those features that will indeed be lost by the wayside if the vehicle actually comes into production.
The vehicle that is set for the “urban lifestyle” had a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood at the Frankfurt Motor Show. And interestingly enough, it also had a 45 hp electric motor in the rear. It’s a hybrid at heart with an all-wheel drive powertrain.
Apparently, Kia is gauging the interest that the new Kia Niro concept vehicle gets in Frankfurt and possibly future shows to see if it – or a version of it – will actually become a reality. This is obviously one that we’ll have to keep our eye one, but to say that we are intrigued would be an understatement.
Maybe the Niro doesn’t come to full fruition, but could it possibly be a predecessor to a future Soul version? Again, we’ll have to wait and see what the full plan is.
