Keeping Your Car Clean: Inside and Out!

Keeping Your Car Clean

So we are all busy. The car we use to get around can transform from a vehicle to a dining room, a bedroom, and a closet all in one day. With all of the different things the car does to meet our needs, it’s no wonder that the space can become a bit of a disaster. With a few simple tips, even a crazy schedule will not stop you from keeping your car clean!

#1: When you leave the car, make sure a little of the mess leaves with you!

Whether this means grabbing the fast-food bag from the floor to dispose of or simply bringing in the empty coffee mug that needs washing, bringing a piece of the mess with you inside will leave more room in the car and keep any unnecessary junk from piling up.

#2: Try to kick off dirt or snow from your shoes before getting in.

Cold Wisconsin winters and humid rainy summers mean that our shoes are pretty dirty when we’ve been out and about. Before getting in the car, do a shoe check to make sure that any dirt left from the great outdoors doesn’t make it into your car. This will keep grime from building up on the floor.

#3: Attempt to avoid eating messy meals in the car.

This is a toughy for us busy people. While eating a meal in the car can be the best option when you’re on the go, a messy meal can leave crumbs, stains, and smells in the car. Over time this can be pretty gross. Try to keep things cleaned up and always keep a few extra napkins on hand!

#4: Make sure the car is happy, too!

When we are busy and short on time, our car’s needs might seem less important than the appointment you are late for. However, taking good care of your car is a great way to motivate yourself to keep it clean. If you show a little love to your car, you’ll be less likely to let it look like a moving dumpster.
