The Best Car Washing Tips

best car washing tips in Kenosha WI spring 2015

Are you a do-it-yourself kind of person? Would you rather spend the time washing your own car and save the money that it costs to have it done by someone else? We can’t blame you there! Today we’re going to give your our best car washing tips in Kenosha WI spring 2015. There’s nothing like the satisfaction of a clean and shiny car that you buffed out yourself. We want to help you get there with our simple tips for a more effective car washing adventure.

Before you even start washing the car, we have a couple tips for tools you need to get the job done right.

Tip #1: Fill two buckets of water.

Put soap in one bucket, and leave the second bucket clean. When you are washing the car, rise your cleaning cloth or sponge in the non-soapy water before grabbing more soapy water. This will allow dirt particles from the car to leave your cloth or sponge and not contaminate your soapy water.

Tip #2: Use a microfiber car washing sponge or cloth.

The microfibers grab and hold onto dirt particles from the car. This will keep the particles from simply being moved around and ground into the paint surface of your vehicle. Avoiding scratches is important, even if they are very small!

Tip #3: Use car washing soap

Using other types of soap, like dish detergent, can strip the polymers from your vehicle paint and encourage the oxidation process. This isn’t a good thing and you want to make sure to keep your vehicle looking as nice as long as possible! So use soap that is made for washing cars.

Now that you have what you need, it’s time to start cleaning. Here are some tips for this part!

Tip #4: Clean from top to bottom.

This might seem obvious, but it makes a huge difference. Cleaning from the top to the bottom means that gravity will cause any dirt that rolls down with water drips will only hit areas that aren’t clean yet. You don’t want dirt to flow into areas you’ve already cleaned, so this tip will save you time!

Tip #5: Use glass cleaner on the windows.

To get that truly glossy and clean shine on your car windows, clean the inside and outside with glass cleaner. The car washing soap doesn’t have the same effect and can leave windows looking dull.

We hope you find these tips to be worthwhile as you clean up your car after a long winter of grime and dreary weather.
