How to Tell When Car Battery Needs Replacing
Slow Engine Start
Your battery starts your vehicle when you turn the key, and your alternator keeps it running once it’s going. If your engine is turning over more slowly, it’s a sign that your battery is on its way out. Usually, if you get a slow start once, you car won’t start at all the next time and you’ll need a jump to get going.
Issues With Electronics
Once your vehicle is started, your battery runs all your vehicle’s electrical components. With all the latest in high-tech features in modern vehicles, it’s a big job. If you’re seeing issues with things like your headlights, power seats, radio, windshield wipers and dashboard lights, it might be time to replace your battery.
Dashboard Warning Light
If you see the battery warning light pop up on your dashboard, it doesn’t necessarily mean that your battery is dying. It could also indicate an issue with the alternator and other various electronic components. It’s a good idea to get an inspection done by an experienced technician to identify the issue.
A Swelly-Looking Battery
If you peek under the hood of your vehicle and the battery casing looks like it’s swollen or ready to burst, it’s a good sign that the changes in temperature are affecting your battery. Once this has started, it’s a good time to get the battery replaced as it is going to die quickly, and this type of damage is irreversible.
Old Age
The average battery has a life of four or five years. Depending on the temperatures you drive in, and whether or not the battery is allowed to charge completely between drives, the lifespan can fluctuate. It’s a good idea to have your battery tested every so often after the 4 year mark, just to see how much life is left.

Big comment here… BE SURE TO REPLACE YOUR BATTERY WITH A KIA GENUINE BATTERY!!! I replaced with a Costco Interstate and it appears the terminals and the position of the water caps interfere and don’t allow a secure connection.
Found this out by the car loosing battery while driving and the ABS and other weird lights popped up and went away when there mechanically was nothing wrong. Then went to restart it and it wouldn’t, after replacing the batteries only days earlier. Seems the terminals were too small.. One could replace with a shim cap, but not going to take the chance of that additional part failing on the critical battery system.

I want to know more about car batteries because I started my automobile blog (caralso) and I am studying about car batteries.
My one Question:
Is battery acid leaking can be a sign of a dying battery?
Dash lights came up fine but died when the ignition was fully engaged….started with a jump start…left running for 15mins….turned key off….refused to restart…no warning at all..
