Summer tips How to Buy Used Tires

Times are tough; we all know that. We are constantly trying to save every penny we can find for every essential item. And that is also what we like to help you do here at Palmen Kia. When it comes to knowing how to buy used tires, we have some suggestions for you. Don’t you worry about your wallet – let us help!

The first thing you have to know is the age of the tire. And that is a very easy to do because if you check the sidewall of the tire, you will clearly find the date stamp on it. There will be a code with the letters DOT (Department of Transportation) – trust us. You won’t miss it.

Now that you have found the year, try to limit yourself to buying tires that are younger than five years old. This is due to the inevitable deterioration of the rubber and their continuous exposure to the UV rays, which tends to cause the rubber to oxidize more quickly.

Try to look on the inside of the tire for plugs and patches. If you find some of these you have two options. You can opt for another tire, or ask for a discount. But remember, they are used tires. You can’t really expect them to be in ideal, like-new condition.

The best advice we can give you when it comes to car repairs is to make an appointment with our expert sales associates! We will handle all of your car’s problems with care to insure that you and your family are always safe.
