2018 Kia Optima Engine Options
The 2018 Kia Optima offers three engine options for drivers to choose from. The standard engine is a 2.4-liter I4 engine. Drivers can choose to upgrade to a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with a 7-speed Dual-Clutch transmission that balances power and efficiency, or a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that includes steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters to increase performance and control.
2018 Kia Optima Engine Performance Specs
All engine options have Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing and Direct Injection engines. The standard 2.4-liter engine comes coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission and reaches up to 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. The 1.6-liter turbo gets 178 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque, and has the 7-speed Dual-Clutch transmission. The 2.0-liter turbo offers a Sportmatic® Sports Shifter and reaches 245 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.
2018 Kia Optima Fuel Economy Ratings
The 2018 Kia Optima’s fuel economy estimates depend on the engine option chosen. All models come with an 18.5-gallon fuel tank. The standard engine reaches 25 city/36 highway/29 combined mpg, with a maximum driving range of 666 miles. The 1.6-liter turbo gets 28 city/37 highway/31 combined mpg with a fuel range of 684.5 miles, and the 2.0-liter turbo gets 22 city/31 highway/25 combined mpg and can go up to 573.5 miles on a tank of gas.
